Pokemon Go has announced two additional live events for players in the United States. Pokemon Go will continue its partnership with the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation with events in San Jose and Philadelphia next month.

San Jose will host Viva Calle San Jose on September 17, 2017. Over six miles of streets will be closed off for the events, and participants are encouraged to bike, skate, or walk through six different activity hubs spread throughout the city. Japantown, Lake Cunningham Park, and the Mexican Heritage Plaza will just be some of the major areas involved with the event.

Pokemon Go will also have a presence at the Open Streets Philly event on October 28, 2017. Like San Jose’s event, several miles of streets will be closed off running from Philadelphia’s Historic District to the El Centro del Oro neighborhood north of downtown.

Both events will likely have increased PokeStops and more Pokemon spawning during the event. However, we’re not expecting any major surprises like new Pokemon or regional-exclusive Pokemon appearing outside of their normal habitats. Pokemon Go hasn’t announced any details outside some basic information about the events on their website.

Pokemon Go also announced they’d have a presence at the “New Roo Weekend” in Akron on August 26-27, which coincides with freshmen orientation at the University of Akron.

While we can still expect occasional big events like Pokemon Go Fest, expect to see a lot more smaller events and partnerships in the months to comes. Niantic partnered with the Knight Foundation earlier this year to sponsor some of the foundation’s annual event and add a Pokemon Go presence.
